This policy will enable a more efficient use of natural resources, the sustainable utilization of ecosystems, and greater connectivity among different territories.
Under the PCM's leadership, the National Territorial Planning Policy will be implemented to foster integrated and sustainable management across the three levels of government, private entities, international cooperation organizations, academia, and civil society.
Regional and local governments will play a key role in this process.
The CNCF will provide them with technical assistance for the formulation and implementation of regional competitiveness and productivity plans.
This initiative aims to positively impact various aspects, including the regional employment index, orderly and safe land use, disaster risk reduction, equity and competitiveness, improved decision-making by regional stakeholders through a comprehensive understanding of the territory, and the strengthening of territorial governance.
Similarly, the implementation of these measures is expected to support both private and public investment in ecological and economic zoning, land-use planning, and territorial development plans, among others.
The PCM and the Ministries of Economy and Finance (through the CNCF); Environment; Agrarian Development and Irrigation; and Housing, Construction, and Sanitation will be responsible for carrying out the activities and services related to the National Territorial Planning Policy.
