Peru: PCM acts as facilitator and reaches agreements on Machu Picchu

The Presidency of the Council of Ministers (PCM) reported that, in fulfilling its facilitating role, it managed to reach agreements following dialogue among authorities, business representatives, and civil society.


The following agreements were reached:

- Consettur Machu Picchu SAC and Inversiones Sumaq San Antonio de Torontoy SA will implement a contingency plan, in a spirit of cordiality and in compliance with current legal regulations.

- The Urubamba Province Municipality will ensure the dissemination of information on the ongoing process to determine the new operator of the transport service to the Machu Picchu Citadel.

- The provincial and district municipalities will coordinate with the Peruvian National Police to ensure the security of the tourist transportation service.

Lastly, the PCM congratulated all sectors involved for their willingness to engage in dialogue, which has made it possible to reach agreements that benefit the thousands of tourists who visit Machu Picchu, the people of Cusco, and the country as a whole.
