The Ministry of Culture on Thursday confirmed the full activation of the Peruvian State platform for entrance tickets to archaeological sites and museums managed by this sector, including the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu.

In a statement, the Ministry of Culture emphasized that the State-run platform —developed by this government agency and the Presidency of the Council of Ministers (PCM) Digital Transformation and Government Secretariat is ready and available to citizens.

"Thus, the visitor experience is enhanced and the measures for protection and entry control are strengthened, with connections to databases from the National Registry of Identification and Civil Status (Reniec), the National Superintendence of Migrations (Migraciones), the Foreign Trade and Tourism Ministry (Mincetur), and the National Service for Natural Areas Protected by the State (Sernanp)," it underlined.

During her Address to the Nation on Independence Day Anniversary, President Dina Boluarte announced that the new platform for selling electronic tickets to enter the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu —located in Urubamba province, Cusco region— was ready.

She said that this new virtual platform, hosted on the National Digital Government Platform, relies on "the controls, guarantees and accessible interoperability for Machu Picchu; it will provide transparent, objective, and secure information."

Website to undergo maintenance

The top official said the Peruvian State Platform for the Management of Visits to Cultural Centers began operating on July 18 at the service point set up at Machu Picchu Cultural Center.

In order to continue its implementation, the module for the virtual sale of tickets, through tuboleto.cultura.pe, will undergo technical maintenance from August 2 at 8:00 p.m. to August 3 at 8:00 p.m.

"During this period, the website tuboleto.cultura.pe will be suspended and unavailable," it announced.
