Peru: Independence Anniversary Civic-Military Parade ends in Lima

14:48 | Lima, Jul. 29.

The Great Civic-Military Parade held Monday as part of Peru's 203rd Independence Anniversary came to an end after four hours.

Held every July 29, as part of Independence Day festivities, the parade pays tribute to Peruvian Armed Forces for their contribution to the country.

It features detachments representing the country's military and civil institutions, as well as the National Police.

Members of the Peruvian Army, Air Force, Navy, and National Police delighted spectators with their stiff march, gala uniforms, and varied equipment, even including some aircraft during an airshow.

Representing the civic side, the event featured artists and school students who danced and performed to the rhythm of traditional Peruvian melodies.

Additionally, six delegations from foreign countries, including China, paraded in the event and received applause from the audience that attentively watched their steps along Brasil Avenue.

The participation of the delegations from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Ecuador, Paraguay, and China —the latter for the first time in Peru— drew attention not only for the characteristic colors of their uniforms but also for their marching style.
