Peruvian Prime Minister Gustavo Adrianzen ruled out any interest from the National Government in privatizing the State-owned oil company Petroperu.

The Cabinet chief noted that the measures being evaluated by the Executive Branch seek to ensure that said company efficiently and effectively fulfills its responsibility to provide fuel to the high-Andean areas and territories with the greatest needs in the Amazonia.

"President (Dina) Boluarte has categorically ruled out the privatization of Petroperu," he stated at a press conference following the Council of Ministers session on Wednesday.

Prime Minister Adrianzen explained that the top official's stance is to ensure that the State-owned company serves markets not covered by the private sector's supply.

However, he underlined that this role must be fulfilled more effectively. Thus, the possibility of hiring a Project Management Office (PMO) is being evaluated.

"We are considering the option of hiring a PMO, selected in the international market, to carry out the task of reviving Petroperu, with a new business vision, and with more productive and efficient units," Adrianzen told reporters.

The Prime Minister said this alternative will ensure the proper use of the financial resources allocated to the State-owned company, so that it can continue to operate.
