might begin operations on December 18 of this year.
During a
supervisory visit following completion of the installation of modular access bridges to the airport, the Cabinet member indicated that this is an
estimated date provided by the concessionaire
Lima Airport Partners (LAP).
Perez Reyes indicated that, from that date, entry and exit from the new Jorge Chavez International Airport will be exclusively via Morales Duarez Avenue, thus leaving behind access via Faucett Avenue in Callao region.
In this regard, two temporary bridges have been installed at the intersection of Morales Duarez and Aeropuerto Avenues, which have already been completed. These will connect with internal roads that are being built by LAP.
"These bridges have a structure that allows the passage of all types of private vehicles and buses, except for heavy loads that have another access via Gambetta Avenue," Perez Reyes indicated.
The government official assured that this infrastructure is fully effective, adding that there will be no risk associated with it due to the design and construction.
Perez Reyes stressed that additionally work is being carried out in conjunction with other ministries to enhance the area's appearance by implementing green areas, traffic lights, and increased security, among others.
"We will soon talk with a group of citizens from Callao (region) to make some aesthetic improvements to the area jointly with the Ministries of Housing and Foreign Trade-Tourism in order to enhance the first impression that our country makes on visitors," he concluded.
