The Peruvian economy will continue its recovery process due to the dynamism of domestic demand and is expected to grow 3.2% this year, according to the latest upwardly-revised projection by the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF).

Economy and Finance Minister Jose Arista on Thursday attended a Congress plenary session, where he supported the Public Sector Budget Bill for Fiscal Year 2025. It amounts to S/251,801,045,185 (about US$66,385,722,432).

During his presentation, the Cabinet member estimated that the Peruvian economy will grow 3.1% next year.

"The economy will grow steadily due to domestic demand recovery, which will be driven by investment in infrastructure and mining projects," Arista noted.

"Greater public investment, supported by a larger budget allocation, and the maturation of the flagship projects portfolio will contribute to this growth," he pointed out.

Likewise, the government official mentioned that 80% of the investment in Peru is private and 20% is public.

"Investor confidence in the country is important for stimulating private investment," he noted.

The minister predicted that Peru's economy would grow on average 3% annually between 2026 and 2028, which is a conservative projection.

"This performance will be supported by the continued growth of domestic demand, driven by new investments in infrastructure projects and the start of construction of new mining projects," he reiterated.

Minister Arista said this dynamic will encourage job creation and private consumption.

He also noted that exports will remain dynamic due to mining supply and agricultural product sales abroad.
