The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Leaders' Week is taking place in Lima from November 9 to 16, with 21 member economies confirmed to participate in the event.

The venue is the Lima Convention Center, located in the capital city's San Borja district.

Representatives from all member economies will be present at the Concluding Senior Officials' Meeting, the APEC Ministerial Meeting on Foreign Affairs and Trade, and the 31st APEC Economic Leaders' Summit.

At these meetings, over 5,000 delegates from member economies will address the challenges and opportunities facing the region regarding trade and investment for inclusive and interconnected growth; innovation and digitalization to promote the transition to a formal and global economy; and sustainable growth for resilient development.

Simultaneously, the APEC CEO Summit will take place, bringing together over 1,200 business leaders from across the Asia-Pacific at the Gran Teatro Nacional (Grand National Theater) on November 14 and 15.

The upcoming event will feature, among others, the Vice President of Google, the CEO of TikTok, and the Chairman and CEO of JPMorgan Chase, the largest bank in the United States.

On the other hand, the main headquarters of the Ministry of Culture will host the International Media Center, where around 2,000 journalists from both national and international outlets will be working.

During APEC Economic Leaders' Week, Peru aims to secure the adoption of four key documents, one of which is the Lima Roadmap to foster the transition to a formal and global economy.

Additionally, thanks to this globally renowned event —which marks the conclusion of APEC Peru 2024's hosting— the host economy aims to strengthen its image as an economy capable of proposing substantive and relevant topics to APEC members, as well as hosting major international events.

"... (Peru) needs peace and stability to welcome the 21 member economies that make up APEC. This is a great opportunity for us to showcase our potential," reads a statement on the APEC Peru 2024 official website.

As APEC's host economy, Peru has been responsible for organizing over 270 meetings from late 2023 through October 2024, with more than 7,600 delegates in attendance.

Peru is hosting APEC for the third time after the 2008 and 2016 editions.
