President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski's administration brought tangible results to Peru-China relations during the first year in office, Peruvian Foreign Affairs Ministry said on Wednesday.

Furthermore, Peru's top official met high-ranking authorities from strategic countries like the United States, France and Spain.

According to the Ministry, Mr. Kuczynski's State visit to China in September 2016 strengthened ties with the government of that country.

In fact, this resulted in a bilateral rapprochement and boosted China's direct investments in the Inca country.

At that time, the 78-year-old announced Peru was going to apply to join the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB). Such request was accepted on March 23, 2017.

Likewise, China committed to backing the implementation of Peru's Productive Diversification Plan.

As is known, the two nations have inked 22 agreements that should guide bilateral relations over the next years —an opportunity for industry development and infrastructure improvements.

On the other hand, Mr. Kuczynski has stood out among Latin American leaders for his strategy to arrange official meetings with high-ranking authorities from major countries such as the United States, France and Spain.
