Peru: Shining Path terrorists pay bail

14:35 | Lima, Apr. 24.

Shining Path terrorist group deputy leaders Osman Morote and Margot Liendo paid the S/10,000 (about US$3,104) bail ordered by Peru's Judicial Branch.

As is known, in addition to this bail, house arrest was imposed on both individuals as a measure of restraint.

Osman Morote and Margot Liendo informed of their payments at an oral hearing in the Tarata Street bombing case. The attack occurred in Lima's Miraflores district in 1992 and left 25 people dead.

On April 17, the Judicial Branch ordered house arrest for Shining Path terrorists Morote and Liendo.

It also ordered the payment of a S/10,000 (about US$3,104) bail within a period of five business days.

The decision was made within the framework of their trial over the Tarata Street bombing.

Morote is serving house arrest in Chaclacayo, while Liendo is staying in Santa Anita —both are districts of Lima city.

It must be noted Peru's most wanted terrorist, Abimael Guzman, was captured on September 12th, 1992, marking the defeat of Shining Path —the most bloodthirsty and cruel terrorist group the country has ever seen.
