Peru President to attend Pope Francis' events

President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski will join the papal activities taking place in cities Lima, Trujillo, and Puerto Maldonado (Madre de Dios region) thru January 21.

Puerto Maldonado

On Friday 19, the President will travel to Puerto Maldonado to attend the meeting between the Supreme Pontiff and Amazonian communities' representatives taking place at Madre de Dios' Coliseum.

That same day, the Head of State will return to Lima to receive Pope Francis at the Government Palace. 

On this occasion, the Holy Father will be greeted by State authorities, diplomatic corps officials, and civil society members at Lima's Main Square and the Government Palace's Courtyard.

Afterwards, President Kuczynski will hold a private meeting with Pope Francis at the Ambassadors Room, in which they will exchange presents.

Then, the Supreme Pontiff will head to San Pedro Church in order to meet with Society of Jesus members.

Trujillo

On Saturday 20, Mr. Kuczynski will travel to Trujillo to attend the Holy Mass to be held at Huanchaco Beach.

Lima

On the last day of the papal visit, the Head of State will also attend the multitudinous mass the Supreme Pontiff will lead at Lima's Las Palmas Air Base at 4:15 PM (local time).

Following said event, the Peruvian leader will head to Air Group N°8 to bid farewell to Pope Francis, who will return to Rome.
