President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski on Friday said Peruvians must be "united by hope" as requested by Pope Francis, who is currently paying a pastoral visit to the Inca nation.

"Yes, indeed, united by hope. He will be in
Puerto Maldonado, and I'll be joining him for a while. Tomorrow we'll be in Trujillo," he told State-run TV Peru channel.
The Head of State
flew to Puerto Maldonado along with government officials and the Head of the Papal Visit Organization Committee in Peru Alfonso Grados.
Mr. Kuczynski remarked he will welcome the Pope at the Government Palace in the afternoon, as outlined in the itinerary.
As previously announced, the Peruvian leader will join papal activities in
Lima, Trujillo, and Puerto Maldonado thru January 21.
