Health Minister Abel Salinas Rivas on Friday reiterated his commitment to take joint actions aimed at protecting teenagers' rights.

According to Salinas, it is necessary to create spaces to promote the healthy development of teenagers' abilities and assure them a better future.

In this sense, he urged health professionals to stand up and join efforts to recognize young people's spaces and rights.

Remarks were made during the launching ceremony of "De Adolescentes" Project, organized by the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF).

The minister also welcomed this new UNICEF project, which seeks to support the development of comprehensive policies to expand and enhance specialized education and health services for teenagers.

It must be noted this project —supported by the Government of Canada— will be implemented in Huancavelica, Loreto, Ucayali, and Lima regions over the next seven years.

The ceremony was also attended by UNICEF Representative in Peru Maria Luisa Fornara, UNICEF Deputy Representative Olga Isaza, Canadian Ambassador to Lima Gwyneth Kutz, and Peruvian authorities.
