The President of the Republic Dina Boluarte on Thursday called on Interior Minister Walter Ortiz and Peruvian National Police General Commander Victor Zanabria to increase the number of vacancies at the Women Police School in order to count on more female police agents nationwide.

This announcement was made during the ceremony commemorating Women Police Day held at the Interior Ministry headquarters in the Peruvian capital, Lima.

"From the Government we will continue to strengthen the operational capacity of the Peruvian National Police, but we also have to increase the number of vacancies so that more female citizens can apply for the Women Police School, thus having more female police agents nationwide," she expressed.

The top official pledged to continue addressing the issue of equal opportunities in recognition of female talent in the police force.

"It remains a constant challenge, but you and those who are ahead of us are the clearest proof that much has been achieved; yet there is more to be done in order to recognize the value of our female police," she stated.

Furthermore, the top official thanked female police agents for their enormous contribution to the elite and specialized units deployed in emergency zones.

Moreover, Mrs. Boluarte indicated that the PNP's operational capacity was strengthened thanks to the delivery of 500 vehicles aimed at supporting patrolling in Lima and Callao, in addition to 260 vehicular and motorized units to reinforce policing in 17 regions.

"We have to strengthen (this support) even more this 2024 so as to continue patrolling our neighborhoods and eliminate common crime, because crime won't defeat us," she concluded.
