Peru's GDP will be boosted by non-primary sector, expected to display growth rates above 5% in the coming years, Central Reserve Bank (BCR) Governor Julio Velarde projected.
The non-primary sector comprises manufacturing, services and construction activities, among others.
Likewise, the economist projected non-primary sector will experience a 2.1% expansion in 2017, followed by 4.3% (2018), 5.2% (2019) and 5.4% (2020-2021).
In this sense, the analyzed sector will recover significantly after having registered negative results over recent years.
Furthermore, the central banker forecast primary sector will grow 6% this year, underpinned by mining and fishing activities.
The country's GDP
According to the Economy and Finance Ministry's projections, Peru's GDP will increase 3% (2017) and 4.5% (2018).
